Toronto, ON Canada – Werc Werk Works, the independent production and finance company helmed by CEO Elizabeth Redleaf and President Christine Walker, announced today that it will produce and fully finance THE CONVINCER written by Jill Sprecher and Karen Sprecher and to be directed by Jill Sprecher. Producing will be Mary Frances Budig, Christine Walker, and Elizabeth Redleaf. Werc Werk Works’ first feature, Todd Solondz’s “Life During Wartime,” was launched to critical acclaim in Venice, Telluride and Toronto.

THE CONVINCER follows a desperate salesman in the Midwest whose scheme to get a hold of a rare violin leads to unforeseen consequences. As with their previous titles “Clockwatchers” and “Thirteen Conversations About One Thing,” Jill Sprecher and Karen Sprecher will share screenwriting duties with Jill Sprecher directing. The production is eyeing a first quarter 2010 shoot.
THE CONVINCER marks the fourth production for Werc Werk Works, which launched in August 2008 and is based in Minnesota. In addition to “Life During Wartime” Redleaf and Walker are also producing “Howl” from Academy Award winning filmmakers Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman and starring James Franco as well as Bela Tarr’s “The Turin Horse”.
